Time and Place

The memorial will take place on Saturday, August 7th from 11 am - 2 pm.

We will be gathering at Socceroof, the roof deck of an indoor soccer arena, which is absurd in a way that we think Dana would have liked, given that she never would have willingly gone to an indoor soccer arena to play or watch sports.

Socceroof is in Sunset Park at 14b 53rd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232.

Socceroof is in Sunset Park, Brooklyn on 53rd Street off of 1st Avenue.

It is a .6 mile walk from the 53rd St Station on the R train.

Let us know if you might need a ride from your parking spot or the subway station.

Continuing to Connect

After the memorial, we will gather at Temkins in Greenpoint, Brooklyn which offers a bar, food, and outdoor space.

If that gets too crowded we will go over to The Springs, another bar with lots of outdoor space.

On Sunday morning, we will gather at McGolrick Park (at Russell St and Driggs Ave, near the dog run) at 11am. Bring a blanket/seat and any refreshments you’d like. There is a coffee shop and grocery store at the corner of the park.

Attire

Wear something celebratory, colorful, beige, homemade, self-expressive or otherwise Dana-esque.

Food

We will have some light food and drinks at the event, but will not be serving a full meal. There are many food trucks near Socceroof that you could enjoy in Bush Terminal Park after the event.

Accessibility

Socceroof has a wheelchair ramp outside the building to enter the building lobby.

To access the roof deck, take the main elevator to the 3rd floor. From the 3rd floor elevator, there is a path to the back entrance of the roof deck that is wheelchair accessible. Please ask Socceroof staff for directions.

Wheelchair accessible bathrooms are available.

COVID

Due to the size of this gathering and the increase in COVID cases around the country, we are asking that everyone wear a mask both inside and outside during the event.
